What is Reiki?

What is Reiki?

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a healing modality that eases pain, reduces stress and has shown to alleviate anxiety. It has no religion attached to it. It is practiced fully clothed. An attuned student or master places their hands near or lightly touching various parts of the body, usually the feet, the stomach, shoulders, neck and head. Patients report a deep sense of calm as (chi) ki flows to them through the hands of the practitioner. Patients  usually feel such a deep relaxation that sometimes they even fall asleep. Usually, sessions are generally an hour but can be longer if needed or shorter if time is limited.

Moving Energy in the Body

Mikao Usui founded Reiki in Japan in 1920. He called his healing practice Rei Ki from two words. Rei which means Universal and Ki which means Life Force.  The energy that set this world in motion is the same energy that is within us all. Reiki is the channeling of this energy to bring about deeper healing, self love, personal insight and peace.

Used in Hospitals Nation Wide

Since 1937 when Hawayo Takata brought Reiki to Hawaii and began teaching, Reiki has become a requested treatment option in over 800 hospitals nation wide. The demand for Reiki has been driven by patient requests and by doctors and nurses who have witnessed its positive results. These medical professionals have seen that Reiki helps patients. Reiki often decreases the amount of pain medications needed, improves sleep and appetite, and accelerates the healing process. It has been shown to alleviate nausea and other side affects of radiation and chemotherapy. To those that are open to receiving, much benefit can come through such a simple and caring practice.
