Don’t just manage your pain, learn to minimize it with acupuncture and diet!
My Story begins while playing in the snow in the Sierra Nevada Mountains when I was 11 years old, I hit a tree riding down a sled run. Unknown to me, at the time, was the amount of damage to my neck and shoulders.
When I joined the Army, with the use of a ruck sack and lots of push ups, I started having severe pain in my shoulders. After an MRI, I found out that I had bulging discs at C5 and C6 in my vertebrae. The typical treatment in the Army for this type of pain and damage is muscle relaxers, 800mg Motrin, physical therapy and traction. This treatment takes several weeks to bring relief and requires multiple trips to the physical therapist each week.
In 2003 I fell in the backyard and inflamed this injury. By the next morning I couldn’t even get myself out of bed due to the pain and needed my husband to help me get up and dress. The radiating pain went down both arms, up into my head and down my back to my bum. Any movement shot pain everywhere. I didn’t want to go through the usual treatment of meds and PT so I called a local massage therapist to see if he could help. We made the appointment for later that morning. My husband had to get me in the car, out of the car and even had to help me sit down in a straight chair! When we arrived the therapist was not there yet and the receptionist called another therapist to come in. The lady that came in said she was going to put needles in my ears to help my back pain. Huh? Whatever, I thought, if it will help my pain then stick them in my eyeballs! She escorted me to a room with a contour chair that I immediately knew I could not get into, and I had to call my husband to help me sit in the chair. After an extremely painful maneuver to get into this chair, she began to put needles in my ears. It stung a little, but it was nothing compared to the pain I felt in my back.
By the time the massage therapist came (about 20 minutes later), the radiating pain was gone and I was able to get up by myself from the man-eating chair! I was amazed! I had never had such quick success from Motrin or muscle relaxers and PT. She taped some little metal beads to my ears and told me the rest of the pain would be gone in 24 hours. She was right! The treatment lasted about a week (never getting as bad as that first day) and with a few more treatments, I felt like a new person!
The Turning Point
I needed to learn how to do this! I began researching ear acupuncture and working with a full body acupuncturist to get certified. My first certification was obtained in 2004 and my second certification was obtained in 2008. I worked in several locations including massage therapy offices and health food stores. I have since certified in Natural Health and utilize food for health and supplements to help others with many different health issues including Fibromyalgia (a story for another time!)
If You are Reading This
You are probably going through some health issues yourself. It doesn’t have to be that way. While acupuncture can be a great first treatment for a wide variety of symptoms and disorders, most of my patients find me after nothing else has worked. We use acupuncture and electro-acupuncture like a ‘tune-up’ to help people get quick relief from their pain or symptoms. Often, acupuncture is enough to take care of a problem and can work long-term or even permanently. Some people want or need to dig a little deeper and address these underlying causes and we address these issues too.
There is a very good chance that if you’re reading this, you have chronic or severe pain. Or, you’re dealing with a health condition that hasn’t responded to the other things you’ve tried. It’s time to make a decision to try something entirely different. A great place to start is with a free consultation at my office. Schedule yours online or call the us today.
But don’t take my word for it – Here is a testimony from one of my clients
