Foods for Healthy Lungs

The lungs are one of the most active organs in the body, breathing 20,000 times each day. They are part of the respiratory system that provides needed oxygen to the body and removes carbon dioxide, the waste gases that our body creates during the energy-making processes. Our lungs are very important, although we can go long periods of time without food and even a fairly long time without water, we cannot live for long without oxygen.

Keeping your lungs in top shape is very important to avoid infection and cancer. One way to help ensure that they stay clean and strong is by eating healthy, organic foods. Once you know that your body can absorb nutrients in food well, eating these foods will improve how your respiratory system works for you!

Beans

Pinto beans, black beans and kidney beans are high in antioxidants that fight off free radicals and protect the lungs from infection.

Berries

Berries, especially blue berries, are also high in antioxidants to protect the lungs and keep them healthy.

Red Bell Peppers

Red Bell Peppers contain beta-cryptoxanthin which lower the risk of lung cancer and help maintain them for those who smoke.

Spinach

Spinach is a rich source of B vitamins that help protect lung health and lower cancer risk.

Keeping our lungs clean regularly is imperative to our health. Regular auriculotherapy detox treatments, deep breathing exercises (Qi Gong and Yoga), and avoiding toxins in the environment (smoking, chemicals, indoor pollutions) will also benefit lungs and help prevent diseases.
